Back by popular demand! Join us at 8 PM on Tuesday, August 20, as The Boys of Bearlesque present:
THE WIZARD OF POZ
A body-positive mashup of the classic story and contemporary queer culture
Ease on down the road to the SF Eagle as the Boys of Bearlesque dance up a full-blown twister and drop a house on your Tuesday night!
Somewhere over the rainbow is a magical place filled with flying puppies, queer nuns, leather lions, bearded queens, and unconditional love. We just have to believe that this place exists. The story re-imagines Frank L. Baum’s classic story as a fabulous adventure through the eyes of San Francisco’s vibrant gay culture. Come join Dorothy’s journey along the Yellow Brick Road of Self-Acceptance as they learn to break free of stigma and embrace life in full technicolor. You can’t click your heels together to get home when you don’t feel home in your own skin……
The Boys of Bearlesque are a body positive dance company founded by International Mr. Bear 2010 JD Welch. Following a two-year residency at the historic Stonewall Inn, the company moved west and has been entertaining crowds on the west coast for the last 6+ years. They are now celebrating a new artist residency at the SF Eagle! Performances blur the lines of burlesque, cabaret, drag, and theater. Expect to see boys of all sizes baring it all on stage using different styles – from dance to lip sync to comedy.
